On September 5, the ASEAN Cert Incident Drill (ACID) 2018 took place. In Vietnam, the drill was held at Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, connecting the CERTs of Southeast Asia and dialogue partners. Deputy Minister Phan Tam attended and delivered the opening speech.

As an annual activity, the ACID was organized to enhance the proactive response to information security incidents of ASEAN members; evaluate the ability of national CERTs in ASEAN; enhance the co-operation between ASEAN countries and key dialogue partners in information security in cyberspace.
The ACID is an opportunity for agencies and units in Vietnam to have opportunities to access to incidents and train their teams to response to network emergencies. This is also an opportunity for the teams to participate in drills and share experiences in emergency response, create links between the members.
ACID 2018 has the participation of 18 CERT teams from 15 countries including Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
In the opening speech of ACID 2018, Deputy Minister Phan Tam said that network security is a pillar of the digital economy. With developing countries, having many network attacks like Vietnam, the security of information becomes essential. Therefore, the network security in Vietnam always receives attention of the government.
Deputy Minister Phan Tam said that agencies, organizations and businesses should coordinate closely together and through the coordination of VNCERT to have more effective coordination at the regional and global levels to actively respond to the increasingly complex challenges of information security.
