ASEAN ready for the global digital revolution

On May 10th, the 14th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI-14) was opened in Singapore, with the participation of delegations from ASEAN members and the three dialogue partners: China, Japan and Korea. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung headed the Vietnamese delegation to attend the Conference.

With the theme of "Inclusive and Informed Digital ASEAN", AMRI-14 aims to build a stronger and more connected ASEAN community through information and communication, building a digital integrated environment and strengthening cooperation between ASEAN and Dialogue Partners (DPs).
 
In his opening remarks, AMRI-14 President, Minister of Information of Singapore S. Iswaran emphasized that it was now important to facilitating the development of digitization across the region, aiming to build a digital ASEAN in the context of the global digital revolution.
 
Minister S. Iswaran affirmed that the digitalization help to increase production capacity, market access, enhance  quality of public services, etc. He also emphasized the importance of the information and communication sector in ensuring an ASEAN community that was diverse in terms of culture, ethnicity and language but unified its identity, mission and values.
 
During the AMRI-14, participants discussed and expected to adopt a series of important standards and documents, including the Common Framework and Declaration; DVB-T2 technical standards for ASEAN; "Core values ​​of ASEAN digital"; "Audiovisual production cooperation in ASEAN"; the ASEAN Media Information Master Plan for the period 2018-2025 (ACMP 2018-2025), etc.
