The workshop was organized with the aim of sharing experiences on the development of postal codes on the basis of implementing postal cooperation between the two countries.

The national postal code of Vietnam was established in 2004, under a 6-letter structure, that had caused some shortcomings. In addition, the popularization of the postal code is not as effective as expected. The people, businesses and organizations do not really understand and know about the postal code.

The Ministry of Information and Communications issued Circular No. 07/2017/TT-BTTTT regulating the new national postal codes under a 5-character structure. This is to make it easier for people to remember, more convenient to use, and meet the needs of postal enterprises.

The Ministry of Information and Communication highly appreciates the cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan and Japan Post in postal codes and hope that Japanese experts will continue sharing their experiences.

The Japanese side said that the popularization of postal code in life would raise the common productivity and efficiency. For the implementation of postal codes, the most important activity is propagandizing, popularizing and multiplying it among people.

At the workshop, the two sides exchanged experiences on the postal code system and discussed and answered concerned questions in building, developing and propagating the national postal code to the people, businesses across Vietnam.
