Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Luan Thuy Duong, Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Chairman of VNPT Group, Mr. Ngo Hung Tin, Deputy General Director of VNPT Group. On the Myanmar’s side was Mr. Phyo Min Thei, the Premier of Yangon, Director General of Post and Telecommunications - Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Myanmar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Truong Minh Tuan emphasized that the launch of the joint venture was a milestone in the cooperation between enterprises of Vietnam and Myanmar in the field of telecommunications and IT. StreamNet is a joint venture between VNPT Group and Elite Public Telecom.
At the inauguration ceremony of StreamNet Joint Venture, VNPT’s Chairman Tran Manh Hung said about the proud achievements of VNPT Group as well as its contributions to the development of the country. He also informed about the process of "laying the foundation" in the Myanmar market. Accordingly, from 2014, VNPT Group has set up representative office in Myanmar, creating the foundation for investment and business activities in this market.
And from 2015, VNPT and Elite Telecom Public Ltd. have become partners. This joint venture will bring new value to Myanmar's dynamic telecommunication market as well as providing customers with more choices, contributing to the growth of the market.
From September 2017, Streamnet Company was officially established with the total investment capital of over USD 15 million, of which VNPT holds 67% and Elite Telecom 33%. The investment of the joint venture could increase by hundreds of millions of US dollars in the coming years.
StreamNet Company will offer a range of telecommunications services including: FTTx, Leased Line VPN, IP transit, Satellite, domain name, web hosting, email, etc.
