The exhibition featured more than 200 photographs and over 40 historical materials, artifacts that recorded the lives, landscapes and history of preserving the island sovereignty of the Vietnamese people over the years.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao said that with the coastline stretching over 3,260 km, Vietnam had a sea area of over 1 million km2, accounting for 29% of the East Sea, with nearly 3,000 large and small islands (including the Spratly and Paracel Islands). Nearly half of Vietnam's population lives in coastal provinces and cities.
With these factors, the sea plays an important role in creating a living space, forming a sea culture, establishing trade relations with other countries.
The sea is also an indispensable factor for Vietnam to establish its sovereignty and maritime security for thousands of years.
The exhibition with beautiful images and precious materials is an opportunity for the French people, the Vietnamese community living, working, studying in France as well as international friends to learn, discover about Vietnam.
The exhibition took place in 3 days, from October 20 to 22. After the exhibition, all photographs and historical materials were handovered to the Vietnam Cultural Center in France for further display, to serve the interest and understanding of the French and overseas Vietnamese in France.
