Vietnamese Talent Awards honour products with high practical application

An awards ceremony of the 2016 Vietnamese Talent Awards took place in Hanoi on November 19 in the presence of Politburo members Nguyen Thien Nhan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue. Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan attended the event.

In the IT category, two first prizes worth VND100 million (US$4,464) each, two second prizes, two third prizes and two consolation prizes were presented at the ceremony.
 
One first prize and one second prize were also given to the most outstanding initiatives in the medicine and pharmaceutical category.
 
For the first time, a prize for startup business was also presented.
 
Under theme of ‘For the Quality of Life’, the awards aimed to recognise and honour people who have madebreakthroughs in information technology (IT) products whose applications will enhance the quality of life and resolve hot issues in traffic safety and food safety, among others.
 
The talent awards which have a significant influence on IT research and development, were initiated in 2005 by the Vietnam Association of Promoting Education and have been co-organised annually by Vietnam Post and Telecommunications, Vietnam Television and Dan Tri online newspaper.
