Minister Truong Minh Tuan receives UK Ambassador

On September, 8 th , in Hanoi, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan received Mr. Glies Lever, UK Ambassador in Vietnam. Attending the meeting were representatives of MIC’s functional units.

At the meeting, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Mr. Glies Lever expressed his desire in learning plans and priorities of the Ministry of Information and Communications for the 5 coming years, especially the implementation of the Press Law 2016 as well as training and capacity building for Vietnam’s journalists. He also shared experiences of the United Kingdom in the field of communication, implemented projects between the Embassy and the Ministry, including cooperation in the field of journalism. Accordingly, the Ministry and the Embassy has held training courses for spokespersons and reporters; organised delegations to England to study and learn experiences in the fields of education, media and IT.

At the meeting, Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Minister Truong Minh Tuan also discussed the possibility of cooperation between the two parties in improving the quality of journalism.
 
Minister Truong Minh Tuan shared with the Ambassador about the Press Law 2016, approved by the National Assembly on April, 05th, 2016. He also emphasized, in the near future, the journalist tranining would also be focused to equip journalists with good knowledge and vocational skills. Minister Truong Minh Tuan also proposed the Embassy to coordinate with the Ministry in the field of training for Vietnam’s journalists.
 
At the meeting, Minister Truong Minh Tuan recommended the Ambassy to help Vietnam and the United Kingdom to strengthen cooperation in the fields of telecommunications, IT (especially information security), broadcasting and electronic information; promote opportunities for British businesses’ cooperation and investment in Vietnam.
