MIC requires operators to review and withdraw pre-registered SIM

To implement the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam at the meeting on the management of prepaid mobile subscribers, MIC requires agencies, units and operators review as well as withdraw all subscriber information pre-registered SIM prior to 31 st , December, 2016. The purchase and registration of prepaid SIM are only done at telecommunications service points.

On July, 8th, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam chaired a meeting on the management of prepaid mobile subscribers. Attending the meeting were representatives of: Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, Viettel, MobiFone, Vinaphone and Government Office. Pursuant to the proposal of Ministries, commitments of telecom operators and directions of Deputy Prime Minister at the meeting, MIC has issued the Document No. 2509/BTTTT-CVT dated July, 25th, 2016 concerning the management of prepaid mobile subscribers.

On that basis, MIC requires operators to implement these followings: Registering correctly subscriber information of 4G services (including both trial and commercial services); Reviewing, verifying, updating existing prepaid mobile subscribers’ information (via SMS and other appropriate forms), not providing services to subscribers having inaccurate or incomplete subscriber information.
 
MIC also requires operators to urgently draw up plans to implement the above contents and report to MIC prior to August, 31st, 2016 to report to the Government and to have instruction documents for common application.
