Minister Truong Minh Tuan receives Australian Deputy Ambassador in Vietnam

On May, 24 th , 2016, in Hanoi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan had a meeting with Mr. Laytom Pike, Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting were representatives of Authority of Telecommunications, Department of International Cooperation, Mobifone Corporation and Telstra Group.

Speaking at the meeting, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan said Vietnam - Australia, the two countries had established diplomatic relations since 1973. The two countries have developed cooperation in various fields such as health, culture and education, especially information and communications.
 
The cooperation project between VNPT and Telstra under a business cooperation contract in developing and exploiting international telecommunication services plays an important role in the development and modernization of Vietnam's telecommunications industry.
 
The Minister appreciated the efforts of Telstra in seeking investment opportunities in Vietnam and hoped Telstra would share its experiences in 4G, new broadband-based services, smart applications and human resource development. Minister Truong Minh Tuan also desired to study management experience of Australia in the press.
  
Mr Laytom Pike thanked Minister Truong Minh Tuan for the meeting and expressed his wish to continue strengthening the economic ties and trade, especially in the field of Information and Communication between the two countries.
