ICT and telecommunications infrastructure will be the foundation for the construction and development of the information society

That was shared by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam at the ceremony of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2016 and the Conference on "Establishing a creative, dynamic ecosystem for the sustainable development of the broadband infrastructure", held by Ministry of Information and Communications on May, 17 th , 2016, in Hanoi.

Deputy Minister Phan Tam said, May, 17th is the festival of the world telecommunications and information industry. The Message of the ITU Secretary-General on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2016 has the theme "ICT entrepreneurship for social impact". ITU always accompanies members, continues to promote the role of a specialized organization of the United Nations in providing governments, private sectors and social organizations professional advices and supports in solving problems related to the telecommunications, IT and building the information society.

MIC fully shares and accompanies with the objectives and efforts that ITU is deploying on the global scale. The efforts of MIC and the community of Vietnam’s telecommunications, IT in recent years have been appreciated by the Party, the State, the whole society and world community.
 
MIC gradually completes the legal framework, promotes the administrative reform, improves the effectiveness and efficiency of State management, restructures the market to meet the requirements of the national integration and development.
 
In recent years, in order to implement Resolution 36-NQ/TW dated July, 01st, 2014 of the Political Bureau relating to promoting and developing IT applications to meet the requirements of integration, sustainable development, MIC counseled the Prime Minister issuing the Decision No. 149/QD-TTg dated January, 21st, 2016 approving the “Program on developing the broadband telecommunications by 2020”. The objective of this program is: To build and develop an advanced, broadband, secured, high-capacity, high-speed, wide coverage telecommunications infrastructure on the national scale to provide broadband telecommunications services with good quality and at reasonable rates.
 
Deputy Minister Phan Tam also asked participants openly share and exchange ideas, propose solutions and innovative ideas to develop Vietnam’s telecommunications and ICT powerfully as an effective motivation to create new modes of development, important driving forces of the development of the knowledge economy and information society, enhancing the national competitiveness in the process of international integration, speeding up the industrialization and modernization.
