Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai receives Delegation of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Laos

At the invitation of Ministry of Information and Communications of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the delegation of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Laos led by Deputy Minister Thansamay Kommasith visited and worked in Vietnam from October, 21st – 25th, 2015 to study and learn experiences in management and operation of telecommunications satellites, as well as exchange some new cooperation concerning the “.la” internet domain name of Laos. On October, 22nd, 2015, at the headquarters, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Hong Hai received Laos’ Deputy Minister of Post and Telecommunications Thansamay Kommasith and the Delegation.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Thansamay Kommasith said, Vietnam had shared experiences for Laos on frequency management, and deployed fully the mutual cooperation agreement between the two ministries. At the same time, Vietnam’s MIC also sent top experts to provide training for Laos and received Laos’ officials to join training courses in Vietnam. That help had contributed significantly to the growth and development of Laos’ posts and telecommunications system. He also praised the  cooperation between VNNIC and LANIC in recent years and notified that the ‘.la” domain name would be passed to Laos’s management in the future.

Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai expressed his pleasure at the cooperation between the MIC Vietnam with MPT Laos and hoped the two sides would continue to exchange and share experiences. Authority of Radio Frequency Management of Vietnam would interested in technology transfer of Radio Frequency Management Center of Laos in the most effective way for Laos.
 
For VNNIC cooperation with LANIC, Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai agreed with the proposal of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Laos in the coordination with VNNIC to transfer the “.la” domain name as well as the investment in equipment to operate the “.la” domain name.
 
The delegation of Laos MPT will work with Authority of Radio Frequency Management, Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) and VNPT-I; as well as Viettel to provide opportunities in expanding cooperation and investment in Laos.
