The second ASEAN- Japan government network security workshop

The second ASEAN- Japan government network security workshop is taking in Hanoi from December 16-17 with the theme “raising awareness of government network security”. The workshop was co- organized by Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), National Information Security Center of Japan (NISC) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong attended and delivered the speech.

The workshop is one of ideas proposed at annual conference on ASEAN- Japan information security policy in the framework of ASEAN- Japan cooperation on information and communications, aiming at the exchange of experience and information between ASEAN countries and Japan in the field of implementing government information security as well as promoting cooperation tight and international coordination mechanism among their Security Operation Centers (SOCs) to build a safe network environment in the region.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong stressed the importance of ensuring government network security for the common socio- economic development and for national defence and security of each country as well as the region. He also affirmed special concern of Vietnamese Government in general and MIC in particular about this issue.

During two- day workshop, the updated speeches on the status of government network security of each country have been presented focusing on contents related to new cyber threats in each country and the region.  Especially, Japan and Singapore, in their capacity as coordinators of cooperation activities on information security presented the oriented- speeches on building capacity and raising awareness of government network security, in which proposing new information security model and ideas on regional cooperation in the field of government network security.
